Feds stiffen restrictions on employer oversight of social media use
U.S. companies are facing new restrictions on how far they can pry into their workers' online lives. The National Labor Relations Board has issued a series of rulings clarifying employees' legal right to communicate over social media without fear of intrusion or disciplinary action. The regulations, which apply to all private companies, make it illegal for firms to terminate workers for such things as complaining about work conditions on Facebook or criticizing their employer over social media in certain circumstances.
