RIM to push quality of apps across many regions
Research In Motion will launch its BlackBerry 10 operating system early next year with about 100,000 applications by emphasizing the app library's appeal across a wide swath of regions, CEO Thorsten Heins said in an interview. "The tactic we are deploying is by country and by region. We are aiming to have the most important 200 to 400 apps available, because many applications are regional and they really do have a regional flavor," he said. Heins told another interviewer that he was confident carriers would adopt the new BlackBerry phones in order to broaden their menus beyond Apple and Samsung, whose handsets are dominating the market.
