T-Mobile parent said to seek joint venture in U.S.

Deutsche Telekom is searching for a partner for its T-Mobile USA unit to help pay the heavy cost of upgrading its networks to advanced 4G technologies, according to a German newspaper, which pinpointed rivals MetroPCS, Clearwire and AT&T -- as well as external industry companies -- as potential investors. The German telecom is in the midst of merging T-Mobile U.K.'s operations with France Telecom's Orange unit.
