Dieters can be misled by food-label claims, study says
Consumers who are watching their weight are more likely to be misled by food labels that make health claims, including those on products that say they are free of gluten, trans fats or high-fructose corn syrup, according to a study from the University of South Carolina. Mark Haub, associate professor of nutrition at Kansas State University, said gluten-free products can have as many calories as regular foods.
