More fussy babies diagnosed with acid reflux diagnosis
More doctors are diagnosing some fussy infants with gastroesophageal reflux disease, which experts say may be driven in part by research showing prescription medications, such as proton pump inhibitors, can be safe and effective in children. However, pediatric specialists say the rise in the number of prescriptions for infant acid reflux may indicate that some babies are being medicated unnecessarily.
