Teaching weight-maintenance skills may help diets succeed
Stanford University researchers said people who worked on weight-loss maintenance skills before they started a diet were more likely to sustain their weight loss for one year. The study on the website of the Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology focused on "stability first" skills such as learning to find low-fat and low-calorie foods, daily weighing and experimenting with losing weight before vacations and holidays.
