Cleveland Clinic physicians and researchers named bariatric surgery for diabetes as the top medical innovation for 2013, according to a survey. Aside from its weight benefits, bariatric surgery was selected due to its efficacy in diabetes control, which will have an impact on health care in the next year, one expert said.
