Diabetes patients on peer coaching show better A1C rates
Low-income type 2 diabetes patients who received peer coaching attained a 1.1 percentage point reduction in A1C at six months, compared with 0.3 percentage points in those who had usual care, a study in the Annals of Family Medicine indicated. Researchers also found that 22% of patients in the coaching group achieved A1C levels below 7.5%, compared with 7.5% of patients in the usual-care group.
