Data from two cohort analyses showed the incidence density for depression was 7.03 per 1,000 person-years in diabetes patients and 5.04 per 1,000 person-years in those without diabetes, while the incidence density for diabetes was 27.59 and 9.22 per 1,000 person-years in patients with and without depression. The findings in Diabetes Care demonstrate that type 2 diabetes and depression share a bidirectional link, with a stronger association for depression as a marker for diabetes onset, researchers said.
