U.S. military is leader in health IT research

The U.S. Department of Defense produces a variety of research regarding health care IT, outpacing most private organizations in terms of understanding how technology can enhance health care. Projects in the works include digital dog tags containing personal health information, an online system that allows military doctors to compare data on eye surgeries and a electronic medical record tool that will support triage around the world. Much of the research is managed by the Telemedicine and Advanced Technology Research Center. Government Health IT (04/25)
