CMS pushes EHRs for quality, e-prescribing reporting

The CMS has announced that starting next year, medical providers may use electronic health records to report data on quality and electronic prescribing measures for some of the government's pay-for-performance initiatives. The changes are aimed at encouraging EHR adoption, as well as giving the CMS and qualified professionals experience in EHR-based data-gathering, the agency said.
