HIPAA rule to stiffen privacy, security penalties

The HHS has released an interim final rule that substantially increases fines for violations of the privacy and security rules of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act as mandated under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act's HITECH Act.
