HIT panel confronts issue of meaningful use by specialists

With most of the measures for the meaningful use of health IT geared for primary care providers, the Health IT Policy Committee is considering ways in which specialists could meet such requirements in order for them to qualify for incentives under the stimulus package. Paul Tang, the panel's vice chairman, suggested the creation of a set of process, efficiency and quality standards that could apply to all hospitals and doctors. Government Health IT (10/27)
