HHS awards $162M in HIE grants to 16 states

HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius said the federal government will provide an additional $162 million in funding to 16 states as part of the State Health Information Exchange Cooperative Agreement Program. "By improving the secure exchange of electronic health records between providers and hospitals within and across states, these awards mark a significant step in bringing our health system into the 21st century," Sebelius said.
