Oil production in U.S. rises to a 15-year high
U.S. monthly oil production in September rose to its highest level since 1998, the Energy Information Administration said. Domestic producers extracted 6.5 million barrels a day, 900,000 daily barrels more than September 2011. The EIA said hydraulic fracturing and horizontal drilling drove the production increase.
