Purported device could change future of flight

Inventor Roger Shawyer says he has developed an electromagnetic drive that creates thrust in an enclosed chamber using microwaves. Some scientists say Shawyer's device is a hoax and that any such electromagnetic device is impossible. Yet if Shawyer's drive does what he says it does, it could greatly improve the speed of planes and spacecraft, while also making missile launches much harder to detect.
