Indian drug, biotech firms weigh pros, cons of U.S. health reform

The health reform bill recently passed by House lawmakers could increase demand for generic drugs and boost the profit of generic drugmakers based in India, industry executives said. However, manufacturers of generic biotech drugs in India would also be adversely affected by a measure that gives brand-name biopharmaceutical firms 12 years of market protection.
