Study suggests new link between alcohol and spread of cancer

A recent study finds that drinking alcohol can lead cancer cells to spread through a pathway called the epithelial-mesenchymal transition. "Our study supports a possible new mechanism through which alcohol may promote cancer progression," a study co-author said. "This now provides a new target for therapeutic intervention for treatment of alcohol-related cancers and for prevention of alcohol-related cancer metastasis," he added.
