InterMune seeks FDA approval of drug for lung disease
InterMune filed for FDA approval of pirfenidone as a treatment for idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, a condition characterized by lung inflammation and scarring. Pirfenidone, which is administered orally thrice a day, previously gained orphan-drug status in the U.S. and Europe.
