Trial: Imiquimod cream treats sun-related skin lesion
Researchers at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York found that 46.7% of people with actinic keratosis -- a form of skin lesion caused by long-term sun exposure -- reported improvement in affected areas after 24 weeks of treatment with imiquimod, a prescription cream. The 20-patient study also noted that adverse reactions such as mild skin redness were minimal to nonexistent.
