The dangers of an opaque supply chain
Managing risks in a supply chain is becoming more difficult as the risks become ever more complex, global and difficult to track, writes Sandra Rapacioli. The recent horse meat scandal in Europe is an example of the risks of opaque global supply chains. Two companies taking novel approaches to monitoring their supply chains are Sainsbury's, which works closely with farmers in the U.K., and Puma, which began making an economic valuation of the ecological impact of its value chain.
