Companies including Kroger and Procter & Gamble are gathering data and using other technology to analyze and respond to consumer buying habits. P&G, for example, is working with a firm that tracks eye movements to test packaging before it is launched, while Kroger sends promotions and discounts to consumers based on their previous purchases.
