Small providers face hurdles to achieving meaningful use

Smaller community practices may not achieve "meaningful use" of electronic health records by 2011 because of some hurdles such as inadequate funds to purchase software licenses, representatives said during the Health IT Policy Committee meeting this week. Some experts suggested that stimulus funds be made available to small providers upfront and certain meaningful use policies be changed.
