Obama's Social Security plan draws GOP support
Republican Party leaders are starting to publicly back President Barack Obama's offer to make some cuts in the Social Security program. House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, said he is trying to persuade fellow GOP members to stop criticizing the proposal. Two House subcommittees are scheduled to take up Obama's idea of linking Social Security cost-of-living adjustments to an index that is less generous than the one currently used.
