West New York, N.J., moves repeal of sign ban forward
The board of commissioners in West New York, N.J., has introduced a repeal of an ordinance that banned some types of signs and banners and would have forced business owners to pay for sign permits. The introduction clears the way for adoption of the repeal next month. "This is a great victory for the town's merchants but also for the freedom of speech of all West New York residents," said Assemblywoman Angelica Jimenez, who opposed the ordinance and was looking to have its fate decided in a special election.
