EU plan to open up derivatives clearing could get quashed

An EU measure forcing exchanges to let competitors enter their market for derivatives-clearing services might be sidelined. Some in the European Parliament worry that the proposal would threaten market stability, according to a document obtained by Bloomberg. Specifically, opponents say the competition could "fragment liquidity in trading platforms," which "played a vital role in promoting stability during the financial crisis," according to the document.
