Three-quarters of smartphone users access location data

Nearly three-quarters of smartphone users are accessing real-time location-based information, according to a report from the Pew Internet & American Life Project. The report also revealed that about 10% use applications such as Foursquare to "check in" at locations -- a jump from 4% in 2010. "We've watched mobile phones become increasingly entwined in people's everyday activities, and location-based services are an important part of that," said report author Kathryn Zickuhr.
