Chicago hospital adopts formal pet visitation policy
Chicago's Rush University Medical Center has adopted a formal visitation policy for pets after officials said the emotional benefits patients get from seeing the animals outweigh the possible risks. Nursing Operations Associate Vice President Diane Gallagher said hospital staff wanted a safe environment in which patients receive needed support.
