Health care reform vital to economic recovery, White House says

President Barack Obama's aides are trying to build support for landmark health care overhaul legislation by saying that controlling health care costs is vital to the nation's long-term economic security. A report by the White House Council of Economic Advisers found that without far-reaching reforms, health care costs could rise to 34% of the nation's gross domestic product by 2040, up from 18% now.
