Workplace "survivors" fall into malaise after layoffs
Lethargy has become epidemic among workers who survive layoffs, prompting workplace experts to caution employers against expecting "survivors" to take up the slack because they are thankful to have jobs. "The group you work with is your tribe," says management consultant Hattie Hill. "When someone is removed, even though you might be happy to still have a job, you're still experiencing this left-behind syndrome and are wondering, 'Am I going to be next?' "
