Celiac disease may be influenced by spring, summer birth
Scientists exploring the causes of celiac disease have zeroed in on one possible factor: A seasonal effect. Data from several studies show more babies born in the spring and summer develop celiac disease than those born at other times of the year. A study in Sweden found the seasonal effect was more evident in boys than in girls.
