School-voucher program upheld by Ind. Supreme Court
The Indiana state Supreme Court has ruled unanimously that school vouchers funded by taxpayer dollars can be used by students to attend private schools. The court case challenging the state's voucher program -- created in 2011 -- was brought by Teresa Meredith, a teacher and vice president of the Indiana State Teachers Association, who said she was disappointed by the ruling, which found the vouchers do not violate the state's constitution.
