Moderate expansion boosts factory orders by 1.7%
New factory orders in the U.S. increased 1.7% in January, according to the Commerce Department. However, factory orders for computers and machinery dropped in January as businesses slowed investments. "The pace of expansion has moderated," said Craig Thomas, a senior economist at PNC Financial Services Group.
