U.S. productivity surged in Q4 of 2009

U.S. productivity climbed 6.9% during the fourth quarter of 2009, according to the Labor Department. Unit productivity costs dropped 4.7% in the same period, the largest four-quarter drop since the index began in 1948. However, the productivity surge may come to halt this year as companies cut capital spending.
