Application deadline to serve on NBPTS Standards Committees is approaching

The National Board for Professional Teaching Standards is accepting applications for educators interested in serving on its Early Childhood Generalist and Middle Childhood Generalist Standards committees. Applications must be completed by Nov. 29. "We need teachers from around the country ... we need people who can sit at the table and decide how the very best standards can be developed," said National Board Certified Teacher Michele Forman, co-chairwoman of the NBPTS Social Studies-History Standards Committee and 2001 National Teacher of the Year. As the National Board prepares to release 2008-09 scores and certification decisions, candidates and participants should log in to www.nbpts.org/myprofile to verify the completeness and accuracy of the information in their accounts, paying close attention to the three pieces of information required to access their score reports. NBCTLink launches new features

NBCTLink, the online community for National Board Certified Teachers, has launched two new features. Through the "Teaching Resources Center," NBCTs can upload lessons featuring their accomplished teaching that would generate collaboration using lessons, videos and photographs. NBCTs can also share their good news through the "NBCT Recognition" group, which was set up to collect news of accomplishments, honors, awards and opportunities NBCTs have received since achieving National Board Certification.
