Outcomes vary widely on end-of-course algebra exam in Ind.
The highest percentage of students who pass Indiana's required end-of-course assessment in algebra I on the first try are middle-school students, and the percentages drop significantly among first-time test-takers in ninth and 10th grades. Educators say that middle-school students taking algebra I tend to be on accelerated math tracks, while it can be more difficult to gauge students' math skills and knowledge in high school.
