New education-technology plan to focus on global competitiveness
The Department of Education will release a draft of the National Education Technology Plan in January, according to Karen Cator, the department's director of education technology. The plan, Cator said, will focus on encouraging global competitiveness and delivering on President Barack Obama's pledge for the U.S. to have the most college graduates of any country by 2020. She also said the plan will push for the hiring of effective teachers and providing access to technology at home and school.
