Study: Small firms create two-thirds of jobs

A new Kauffman Foundation analysis of 2007 Census data found that companies younger than 5 years old were responsible for two-thirds of all net new jobs. Researchers said young firms, many of which are acquired by more established companies, account for many of the jobs created in big business. Co-author Robert Litan said the research lends credence to the need for public policy support and credit access for startups to spur employment.
