Recession-battered small companies are looking at every way possible to cut costs, and it is possible for a reduction in spending on information technology to make the budget leaner and the company bigger. Three strategies for doing that: Audit the tech inventory but do not assume everything old must be replaced, move some applications to the Web, and renegotiate contracts with vendors.
