Small shops will see costs balloon if reform passes

Small businesses have been pushing for health care reform for 20 years, but the leading legislation now being considered will increase their expenses, impose new regulations on them and force them to provide insurance or pay a penalty. President Barack Obama tried last week to sway the opinion of small business in his favor, but government and independent studies point to increased costs to small businesses if the reforms pass as proposed. NFIB's Dan Danner said the cost "will ultimately come out of small-business owners' pockets and prohibit them from growing, investing in their business and hiring new employees."
