British restaurant chain removes service charge
British chain D&D London has scrapped its 12.5% service charge, leaving the tipping up to diners. The move could signal a shift in British tipping culture. "It is a trip into the unknown for us, but that is the way they do things in America. Will it work? It certainly does in New York, where service in general is excellent and tips are very good," D&D Chairman and CEO Des Gunewardena said.
