McDonald's lures French by appealing to local tastes
The French have embraced McDonald's, making the chain's operation there the second-most-profitable in the world, with 1,140 restaurants. The company's popularity reflects its ability to adapt to local tastes by offering burgers topped with whole-grain mustard, Caprese salad and homegrown beef and produce. "The French eat McDonald's in a French way," coming less often, but spending more -- about $15 -- each visit, said a McDonald's France spokeswoman.
