Latest data may put pressure on Senate to pass a jobs bill

The January unemployment numbers appear to support the conclusion of President Barack Obama's economic adviser Lawrence Summers that the U.S. is going through "a statistical recovery and a human recession." The economy grew for a second quarter, by a robust 5.7% in the final three months of 2009, but subsequently shed 20,000 jobs in January. This puts the Senate under pressure to adopt a jobs bill that was passed by the House of Representatives in December, according to this article.
