Home-improvement chains report beginnings of recovery

Consumers are starting to spruce up their homes once again, boosting sales at home-improvement chains. This week, Home Depot and Lowe's reported improved earnings and sales increases in some key stores and markets, with growth for Home Depot coming in the kitchen, bath and paint categories, as well as DIY and home maintenance.
