Sleep deprivation has gender-specific effects on appetite
Lack of sleep was associated with increased levels of the hunger-stimulating hormone ghrelin in men but not in women, a study in the journal Sleep showed. Researchers also found sleep deprivation appeared to reduce the levels of satiety hormone GLP-1 in women but not in men.
