Federal grant helps expand wellness education in Calif. district
The Alvord Unified School District in Riverside, Calif., will use a $1 million federal grant to get students moving and hopefully raise students' levels of fitness. Data show only about 15% of district students meet state standards for physical fitness. The district's "WeFit" program will track students' activity levels and encourage more activity using gaming devices and pedometers.
