Nurse study finds PMS benefit in plant-based iron
An analysis of data on 3,000 women in the Nurses' Health Study II found that those who consumed the most iron from plant-based foods or supplements had as much as a 40% reduced risk of premenstrual syndrome compared with those who ate the least. Researchers said that daily intake of more than 10 mg of zinc offered a slight protection against PMS. The findings appear in the American Journal of Epidemiology.
