Ontario school district bans products that look, smell like peanut butter
A school board in Ontario, Canada, has expanded its ban on peanut butter and other peanut products in schools to include nut-butter look-alikes. At issue, officials say, is the time-consuming task of determining which products contain peanuts and which do not. Seeing the similar products also can cause uneasiness for students with peanut allergies and create confusion of what products are safe for school, officials said.
