Engineer develops leakproof carbon-capture system
An engineering professor at the University of Texas at Austin developed a new method for carbon capture that prevents the captured gas from leaking. Steven Bryant suggests drilling into a saltwater formation, removing the water, injecting the carbon dioxide into the water and putting the mixture back into storage. "This process has several advantages," Bryant said, "but the most important is that it eliminates the risk of sequestered carbon dioxide escaping from the storage formation."
