Study: Low-wage employees hardly benefit from workers' comp system

Most employees with an average salary of slightly more than $8 an hour chose not to file workers' compensation claims and receive benefits for injuries they suffered at work, according to a study by the National Employment Law Project. Most of the workers also were victims of violations of federal laws governing overtime pay, minimum wage and employer retaliation, the study found.
